I bought this to record sexual harassment I was receiving at work from one particular guy. Will it record continuously even when you're not using it?
No, you can use it for recording only by pressing the top and you can use it as a pen as well (without recording). So whether you want to record or write, you can do either independently.
How do I turn this voice recorder off? Mine is staying in the red flashing mode?

If you prop the book open, clip side out, and is directed towards the speaker I think it would record as long as there was not a great amount of extra noise.
